In 2017, HKUST sought to enhance support for nursing mothers on campus, recognizing the need for a comfortable and accessible breast milk pumping facility. However, managing bookings and ensuring secure access to Mothers’ Station—a dedicated space with locked doors and regular cleaning—posed logistical challenges. Manual coordination was inefficient and inconvenient for busy mothers working or studying at the university. HKUST partnered with Beautitag Limited to develop a mobile app that would streamline this process and improve the experience for its community.
Beautitag created the Mothers’ Station mobile app, launched in 2017, to empower enrolled mothers with a seamless booking and access solution. Available on iOS and Android, the app allows users to reserve time slots at Mothers’ Station, located at Room G019 on the LSK Campus. Integrated with the university’s access control system, it grants entry to the facility upon successful bookings, ensuring privacy and convenience. The app’s intuitive design caters to mothers’ needs, offering a hassle-free way to plan their visits.
The development process involved close collaboration with HKUST’s Campus Services Office (CSO). Beautitag tailored the app to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure, including door access controls, while meeting strict security standards. Built for iOS 12+ and Android 6+, the app underwent thorough testing to ensure reliability across devices. Beautitag also provided guidelines and support to help mothers register and use the app, fostering quick adoption within the HKUST community.
